I've had two root canals: one on the NHS that was absolutely fine and then a second done on the NHS that failed and needed fixed privately. If it's going to be the same person either way then just go NHS - I ended up having to go elsewhere for my private work as my normal dentist wanted to just take the tooth out after the initial work failed.
