| Comment | Your mate should report the bike stolen to on BikeRegister (he'll need the frame number if not already registered).
He should then report the theft to the police to get a crime number (they will also want the frame number). Next, he needs to call his insurance company and make a claim. They'll probably want to see the broken chains/locks as proof, also the crime number.
Sorry to say, but the odds of the bike being returned are very slim. The police do recover a lot of bikes, but struggle to match them to their rightful owners (hence why they want frame numbers).
He should also keep an eye on eBay, Gumtree, Facebook Market Place etc.
Total bummer. Soon one'll have to carry locks costing more than the bike! |
