I've read many vets recommend when it comes to saying goodbye to your pet, doing it in the comfort of their own home is much less stress on the animal and the family than bringing it to the vet.

We have an old cat thats near the end.
To put her to sleep at the vets £65.
To put her to sleep at our home £320.

The service is based 7 miles away, but this price makes me think its a fucking flying vet coming over, out of hours, on a Sunday, from a different county.

Since pet insurance took off, uk vets have gone like American health care, knowing that they can charge ridiculous amounts cos an insurance company will pay it IF the precise criteria are met.

Vets totally exploit peoples emotions and love for their beloved pets. If vets love animals, reduce your charges. Do you really need that luxury material possession over that old dear that needs the company of her only beloved old companion pooch?

They should have a word with themselves and perhaps go for a career where they can get the big bucks with out saying "your beloved animals dead unless you pay me this much"
