I don’t fully understand the scenario that you are describing but sorry to hear that you had a bad experience.
Needless to say you need to be more careful around cyclists and acknowledge your burden of responsibility on the road.
All of the scenarios described in this post would have been non issues by driving at 20mph maximum.
Cyclists have a lot more to be aware of when on the road. The main emphasis is unfortunately to continually look behind you as this is the biggest risk factor. Cars continually come too close. Potholes and weather conditions can cause unpredictable actions from cyclists. Wind and rain in the eyes can cloud vision as well. In the comfort of a car most drivers do not appreciate this. You as a motor cyclist must also appreciate the risks on the road from larger vehicles but even still you have that extra layer of security which is a strong heavy vehicle with far more protection than a bicyclist.
The chap probably didn’t see you so just cool it on the speed and let’s all stay safe out there. |
