Comment | Why is this so heavily downvoted? Everyone worried about hitting a cyclist should be extra careful around them giving them more space than the minimum required.
If you see a cyclist on the road, I'd recommend immediately taking your foot off the accelerator to assess the situation then act accordingly. Usually that just means sitting in until it's safe to pass and giving lots of space, ideally the whole lane, when passing. If you do that you've little reason to worry.
20mph speed limit would help give people more time to react to others on the road and hopefully reduce the number of injuries and deaths that OP and others in here are worried about. The downside is journeys become a minute or two slower, but that seems like a worthwhile tradeoff. |
