| Comment | legit and safe aren't the same thing though. there's only one way a bend in the fork like that happens, that's a head on collision. it's unsafe for the rider since the steering geometry is now different and likely much twitchier which means it's more unsafe for anyone near the rider in case of emergency.
honestly, i'm a bicycle mechanic and some of the shit i've seen these fuckers ride around on puts the fear of god into me. worn out brakes, illegally modified battery systems, tires showing the cords, exposed wiring, bent forks and all this on pedestrianized areas going 20mph+
as for enforcement. the police aren't doing anything. it wouldn't be hard. get one of these e-bikes and patrol up/down some of the areas where these folk do their worst and keep an eye out for the telltale signs. the big one is not pedaling going uphill. put some in front of the lights at 4 corners and pull over every one of them that doesn't stop on red or rides on the pavement. |
