Comment | Right about actual bread compared to Germany. But they have bread slicing machines in the budget supermarkets there. Their attitude to bladed things in general there are mad compared to here - knives without that hard plastic wrapping just loose on open display, etc. Lidl or Aldi here (forget which one, sorry) does a pretty good kind of vollkorn brot and co-ops (and Nisa shops who sell co-op products) do a bog standard seeded rhye that has the consistency of the kind of cheap version you'd find in the likes of Rewe in Germany.
OP, if you see a member of staff at the bakery section, ask if they can slice of for you. It's hit and miss whether they can or will but my local Morrison's does it. |
