Cost-effective compared to an internal combustion engine?

No, of course not, otherwise we wouldn't have a transport emissions problem.

Cost-effective compared to other zero-carbon options, such as EVs? Yes, potentially, for large vehicles such as this, because of the size of battery that would be required. It does, of course, depend on the source of the hydrogen and the economy of scale.

Bear in mind this is a hybrid system, so the main intention is to offset idling emissions in residential areas (so is not just about the carbon).
