I don't currently have a dog but I've owned 9 over the years. The only one who was freaked out was a beagle cross with severe anxiety I took on and even at that he was able to be calmed to an extent with a combination of music and pheromones leading up to the 5th.
My fil has always owned and trained GSD's and not one of them has ever had an issue. My neighbour has an assistance dog (border collie) for her epilepsy and weirdly she sleeps through fireworks because she's been trained.
There's no denying that very few people take responsibility or even consider desensitising their frenchies or cockapoos or whatever the latest trend in dogs is. It doesn't cross anyone's mind until November then they are all over the local Facebook groups calling for a ban. |
