P.s. motorway driving in a car is much better than city driving/short hops..
Especially diesels. It may not be as bad for your car as you think.
What you would need to consider is the toll it would take on you. It can be a very stressful commute, especially if you're tired/stresses with deadlines at uni already!
Personally I think I'd prefer public transport too, but when you listed the costs I was surprised!
