Comment | It's not just about them becoming 'less shit'. The areas that become gentrified are always working class areas and in London, Berlin, New York and numerous other examples it forces people out of the areas they grew up, areas they work and areas where they have connections, primarily as a result of gentrification leading to a surge in property prices.
There's gentrification happening in Glasgow, Govanhill is the most obvious example but things like the scrapping the right to buy will prevent full scale gentrification although that's not to say local people aren't being forced out due to rising prices. |
