The majority of asylum seekers who have their application rejected are successful on appeal.

The process can be quite complicated, and any little mistake can lead to the application being rejected. A rejection doesn't neccessarily mean that they do not have legitimate cause for seeking asylum.

Also, whatever your beliefs on asylum seekers, changing someone's locks when they nip out of the house and leaving them destitute is a shitty thing to do.
