What a load of nonsence. I am fully entitled to take my bike on the train as is any other person. The trains have dedicated bike storage areas.

You seem to be referring to a situation when there are too many bikes on the train. That is fair enough. That will not happen with a folding bike which can be carried like a bag.

On an Ediburgh via Bathgate service one of my friends was asked by the ticket examiner if his bike had a lithium ion battery and when he said yes he was asked to leave the train at Carntyne. That's bullshit as the rules apply to micro devices only. My friend not being knowledgable complied.

It happened to me recently as well and I ripped him a new arsehole. He eventaully admitted he had no training on the subject. The irony is that I didn't even have a ticket and he made such a big deal about my bike that he never even asked me for it.

I have since heard that other cyclists have been challenged in the same manner. Some of the staff simply like making up their own rules and inconveniencing customers. Seen it going on for years. It doesn't work with me.
