Similar to 'Sauchiehall' like you mention. Sometimes happens with 'loch' too. Basically, any word with the voiceless velar fricative 'ch' (<x>) trips a lot of people up (mostly Americans, and tbf, the countries you listed do make use of the voiceless velar fricative so they would pick up on it fast). |
