But in the context of a housing shortage, more dedicated student accommodation *increases* the availability of other housing, and makes it more affordable. That means more choice and lower costs for you as a student if you don't want to live in halls.

If we ever get to the point where there is an excess of accommodation, then the first thing that will happen is that people will stop trying to build more capacity.
