If you want to try and prime yourself on the rules before turning up at an actual event, you could try [MTG: Arena](https://magic.wizards.com/en/mtgarena). Its the exact same card game but digital, free to play, and will let you get your feet wet without spending a bunch on cards that you might end up not using or regretting. There's decent tutorials for teaching you how shite works, and it'll run on any old device because of its card game nature. |
