Not directly but government policies have a huge impact on how people raise their kids, particularly people in more deprived areas. Local services for kids have been stripped back and in some cases completely eradicated for the last 15 years and more. In instances where there are troubled kids, parents should expect the government to provide local councils with enough resources to help them through things like social services etc, those resources aren't there anymore and parents and kids are abandoned to their own devices and that results in kids falling through the cracks and not getting the help they need. The cost of living crisis, set in motion by this government and plenty before it by not paying people proper wages means folk have to take on two/three jobs just to make ends meet and parenting their children becomes something on their list rather than a priority.

No one decides when they have kids that they are going to turn them into little shits. There's economic factors, social factors, historical trauma, complex family situations all of which have been exacerbated by 13 years of the poorest being targeted by this government. Have a bit more empathy for people.
