The government has made a publication saying they will not be using the terms junkie, alcoholic or addict as they are all offensive. The term you should be using if your trying to be break down stigma is "person with problematic substance use, person with harmful alcohol use, and person with problematic drug use”. I don’t have an issue with junkie or alcoholic. Have both in my immediate family and doesn’t offend anyone I know.
So because some other cities have open drug dealing we should see that as acceptable for our city centre? And because you’ve never seen drug use in the area it doesn’t mean that it’s not a problem in the area. |
