The long distance night trains in Europe are viable due to geography and the ability to navigate around nighttime engineering works.

24 hour urban trains aren't a thing in anywhere I've been in Europe, but obviously I haven't been everywhere so no doubt there will be some somewhere but it's not widespread. I guess trams may run all night in some places.

Remember, even a city like London runs a very limited night tube service despite the size and population density of the city.
