Someone who considers themselves non-binary doesn't identify with either the male or female gender. Some people consider gender to be a social construct whereas biologial sex is still what it is. It is considered incredibly rude to ask a Non-binary person what their biological sex is because it's denying their prefered identy.
So what you're asking what these partners got going underneath the hood so to speak and that's a bit forward and it's also blatantly denying their preferred identity.
Anyways, I think it's pretty clear that a NB person is probably not going to be someone you're looking to be new pals with. So maybe just leave them be.
Ultimately, you don't have to understand why they are the way they are. They do. Ultimately you don't have to even be nice.
But it just would be really cool if you would be nice and at least stick to their prefer identities when they state it. |
