| Comment | My gran and grandad would have said pictures, they would be close to 90 today if they were still alive.
My mum and dad (late 60s) might have said pictures when they were younger but would definitely say cinema today.
For what it's worth I'm in my 30s and I can't remember the last time I actually heard someone say pictures and I don't think i've ever heard anyone of my generation say it.
I'd say "I'm going to see a film" or "I'm going to the cinema" but never "I'm going to the pictures". |
