That could be it! I don't really have the perspective on reasons.

I think there's part of it that's a Scottish pride thing as well. (Although I've never lived in England so it's possibly similar) in the sense that, just going from some pals I have, if they've moved from somewhere like a bit more rural Scotland to Glasgow, that's as far as they want to go because it's already the biggest city in Scotland and the idea of going somewhere that's not Scotland doesn't really cross their minds. (I guess harder too since Brexit and visas etc).

Just as someone who moved from another country it's an interesting thing to come across but I understand it & it's not a bad thing like I say.
