My humble opinion is that a puffer isn't the best jacket for Glasgow, if you like them and want one for fashion, fair enough but they are only really useful on the rare cool but dry days.

Your most common Glasgow winter weather is wet, so if you are going to be going anything more than living home to car to work you need something to keep the rain out more days than not.

So aye, buy a puffer if you like them and can buy multiple jackets but the actual useful one in Glasgow will be a proper outdoor waterproof (once again check it's actually labelled as waterproof not water resistant, there's a big difference on a wet day in Glasgow and nothing makes a cold day worse than being wet). The one I wear is actually a snowboarding brand called planks, and it doesn't let a single bit of rain through even on the wettest days. It's also pretty damm warm.

Generally speaking outdoor brands like Berghaus/Northface are great if you have the money but in all honesty, its less about the brand more about it's ability to keep the rain out.

Look here, this is the sort of thing you want:

Also, once again get decent boots: nothing more miserable than having soaking wet feet on a cold day.
