Deliveroo is the way. Delivery much cheaper but as it tends to come by bike it can take a bit longer.

Anyway, the economics of these food delivery platforms are totally fucked.

We’ve all sleepwalked into a world where we think £6+ of service fees, delivery charges and the inflated food prices on these apps is fine. This model makes the platform owner incredibly wealthy, the restaurant margin continues to be eroded making the owner either less well off or by being forced to increase the scale of the business at a lower margin they’re increasing their risk, the delivery drivers get punished and most are just reselling their licence and having someone who can’t legally work deliver for them and at the end of this journey the consumer gets hit or miss experience, either hot or cold and expensive food.

This “gig economy” isn’t a thing. It’s really the “platform economy” and we’ve created it by adopting Uber, justEat and every other platform you can think of.

Unfortunately, we’ve fucked it.
