| Comment | Edinburgh has the lowest per head expenditure of any Scottish local authority. However, something I have noticed is that when people in Edinburgh strike it rich they move to a nicer bit of Edinburgh, whilst when Weegies strike it rich they move outside GCC's local government area.
A huge amount of money earned in Glasgow is used to purchase houses and pay council tax in East Refrewshire, Lanarkshire, Stirling, Ayrshire, etc. This essentially leaves GCC with its poorest residents and a small tax base. |
