Who said anything about ulterior motives? Your openly stated motives - trying to track down someone who has no desire to be in touch with you - are explicitly sinister.
Normal people do not 'hunt' others like you are. Normal people do not make significant decisions like you have without the clear acceptance and consent of those it affects. Normal people accept and move on from rejection.
