I have friends who stay in Tollcross and they seem to like it. There's not much there for going out (that I know of) but town isnt exactly far away.
We also considered moving to Mount Vernon before staying in the Southside. No real reason other than that's where the right property came on to the market.
Had friends who stayed in Rutherglen as well and it is a nice enough place.
I would avoid Cambuslang personally. There's nice houses there but the High Street is a complete dump and you'll basically have to drive any time you want to do or get anything.
