Need a bit more information to offer you any specific advice. Where are you coming from? Where are you going to be living in Glasgow? Where will you be commuting to on a daily basis?

In terms of general advice - Glasgow's a lot like most UK cities, if you're from the UK you won't find services and such too different from what you're used to.

The main ways of getting around are buses and trains. If you're travelling between the West End and Glasgow Central, you can use the Subway which comes regularly and has plenty of stops, but only one ring so if you don't live/work on that ring it's no use to you. There's also a fairly extensive network of cycle paths and a public bike hire scheme similar to most large cities. Glasgow is fairly compact so you'll usually find a way to commute anywhere within a reasonable time.

How to manage yourself? People are friendly and generally helpful. Golden rule is Don't Be a Nobhead. If you treat people respectfully you'll receive the same treatment.

There are also a couple of quirks of Scottish law that are distinct from the rest of the UK - The one that catches most visitors out is that you can't buy alcohol in shops after 10pm. This doesn't apply to bars and pubs but if you enjoy a drink at home, make sure you've got enough in to last you the night.

Welcome to Glasgow! Hope it treats you as well as it's treated me!
