Referring to a controvesial sentencing decision taken earlier this year saw a Guilty verdict returned for child contact sex crime but the returned sentence was Absolute Discharge to prevent the perpetrator being put on the Sex Offenders Register.

The perpetrator was a Dental Student at Glasgow Uni. Sheriff decided that "Any recorded conviction for this offence would have serious consequences in terms of the accused\`s future career"
