I'm not talking about America really. There are other approaches to healthcare provision. For example, South Korea has a system of national insurance (better than Ireland's) which relies on an extremely dense network of small private clinics, and is very cheap. I'm not saying the UK should move resources to the private sector, but I would like more choice in non-emergency stuff, e.g. otolaryngology, orthopaedic surgery, psychiatry etc.
