The main reason is because Glasgow is quite north (56 degrees), which means that sunrises and sunsets last longer, so you have more options for nicer pictures.

For example, you can see here the length of sunrise/sunset in Quito Ecuador (the shortest):

It is difficult to say from the plot, but each twilight lasts around 1h based on the numbers below. This is really really fast.

While in Glasgow

changes a lot through the year, but the minimum is already more than 2h.
