Love Boutique originally started off great, and I think it was a pretty new concept to Glasgow at the time. It was a "mixed" night, and dressing flamboyantly was de rigueur.
Sadly, it became a victim of its own success, and with no quality control from the bouncers at the door (or sheer greed from the organisers) it just became overrun with neds wanting to see what the fuss was about.
Unfortunately, in 90s Glasgow, these same neds weren't tolerant of the large gay quotient that the club was created to cater for, so threats and intimidation pushed the original punters out and turned it into another bog-standard hard house night. |
