The missus did it for about 18 months, it's doable but you need to find a way to stop the journey just being 'wasted' time, and it's pretty expensive. You also need to consider the travel time to/from the station at each end, which can make it a lot worse.
I think it's got a lot more comfortable now the longer trains are running.
