I agree regarding the left turn onto GWR, that seems a strange one. However wrt the bike lanes, they are always a case of 'build it and they will come'. Modal shift is encouraged by infrastructure, so they aren't always built reactively. It's the same for cars: if you increase the capacity for cars, more people choose to drive, so congestion remains. But yeah, they should make them with hard kerbs, paint is not protection!
