TitleArgyle Street is terrifying

Hi! I just wanted to share and see if anyone is feeling the same as me or had similar experiences recently.

I live in Anderston so I usually walk along Argyle St to get into town because it's faster but recently everytime I've gone that way I've felt really uneasy. I'm used to there being dodgy people cutting about all the time but since the Alexander Thompson starting housing ppl since the beginning of lock down it's been even worse. They're all hanging about near my area and all the way along Argyle St and I can't walk 2 minutes without being harrased by someone for money or cigarettes or someone just wanting to start a fight for no reason.

Recently I was passing the hotel and a literal hoard (exaggeration but that's how it felt) of them started following me until I got to the bus stop and managed to get on a 2. I'm 20 y/o and a girl and I have never felt so uneasy and unsafe in town before especially not since seeing the sexual assaults, robberies etc in broad daylight on the news recently.

I get that these people might be having a rough time but I should be able to walk to a shop by myself without having to ask my fiancé to escort me there and back during the day.

Can nothing be done about this? Is there anyway I can protect myself if the worst was to happen?
