TitleBest walking routes accessible by bus or train from Glasgow?

This will sound stupid to a lot of people but I’m a politics student who feels really overwhelmed with the upcoming US election. One of my classes at uni this semester is based on American politics and its emotionally exhausting to try and keep up. My plan for the day after the election, no matter who wins, is to turn my phone off, delete all news apps and go for a long walk in a place where no one will bother me. I did this a few weeks ago when I got the train to Balloch and it was great. However, it was pretty overcrowded for my taste and so I’m looking for somewhere that’s more isolated. The problem is that I can’t drive and so I’m looking for places that are accessible by bus or by train. I love hiking so I’m not daunted by harder trails but I do prefer places that have woods and forests to get lost in.

Any ideas for routes that would suit me? Again, I’m looking for places I can just wander for a few hours with limited human interaction.
