TitleGlasgow School of Art MFA and MA students- may I have your attention?!

Hi there!

I’m looking to apply to the MFA in GSA and I’d like to hear from actual students who are currently doing this program?

I went to the open day last year in the Stow Campus and it was a really nice place, I loved the feel of the campus but at the time was not sure if I could afford to invest that time and money!

But now I’m seriously considering it!
And I want to apply.

I am having a few snags already though...

I want to do this to further develop my practice and skills and actually go into a career of teaching in colleges and unis.

My skills have become much more illustration based and concept art - of late and less contemporary art. I was thinking of doing the MA illustration, buuut you can’t teach with that ... SO.

My questions are:

Is the course free to explore ideas in any media?

Do you feel pressured to be “contemporary fine art” (I did for my BA and I like the concepts but hated my work and it was so conceptual all about the relationships of digital and physical spaces)

What are your proposals? What is your subject? Is it broad or really niche?

Thanks for your time
K
