Cancellations to services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Shotts

Due to heavy rain flooding the railway at Hartwood the line towards Glasgow is closed. Disruption is expected until 12:00 05/12.

Train services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Shotts will be cancelled or terminated at and started back from West Calder.

Option 1 - Check if a rail journey is currently possible..

Customers can travel on alternative routes..

* Glasgow Central to Lanark - Customers can travel on these services for Uddingston and Bellshill.

* Glasgow Central Low Level services to Motherwell to connect in with local buses to Holytown, Hartwood and Shotts.

* Queen Street to Edinburgh via Bathgate, Cumbernauld and Falkirk High.

* If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket.

Option 2 - Local Buses..

* Currently, we have not arranged for your rail tickets to be accepted on local bus routes as yet. We will monitor this situation as the incident develops.

Option 3 - Rail Replacement Transport..

* Currently, we have not requested Rail Replacement Transport. We will monitor this situation as the incident develops.

Option 4 - Consider travelling later..

* You might wish to consider postponing your journey until our service's return to normal.

* We have ongoing flooding in the Hartwood area.

* The line is closed at Hartwood towards Glasgow Central.

* Services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Shotts will run only between Edinburgh and West Calder in both directions at the following times -

From Edinburgh to West Calder at 05.53, 06.56, 08.28, 09.28, 10.28, 11.27

From West Calder to Edinburgh at 07.18, 07.42, 09.13, 10.09, 11.11, 12.09

Due to heavy rain flooding the railway at Livingston North disruption is expected until 08:30 05/12.

Train services between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh will be cancelled, delayed or started from Bathgate.

* Use the National Rail Enquiries real-time journey planner to check if you can continue your journey by rail.

* Queen Street to Edinburgh Via Falkirk High

* Queen Street to Edinburgh Via Cumbernauld

* Due to heavy rain flooding the railway at Livingston North we are unable to run between Edinburgh and Bathgate as the water levels are above the rails.

The following service alterations will apply until further notice:

06.08 Edinburgh to Helensburgh will start at Bathgate

05.47 Bathgate to Edinburgh cancelled

06.36 Edinburgh to Helensburgh will start at Bathgate

06.16 Bathgate to Edinburgh cancelled

07.07 Edinburgh to Helensburgh will start at Bathgate

06.45 Bathgate to Edinburgh cancelled

07.38 Edinburgh to Helensburgh will start at Bathgate

* We are making arrangements for pumps to be onsite to reduce the water levels and we will update with our progress.
