Body | Was doing some reading today on tithes the serfs paid to the Church in 18th century France and couldn't but notice many parallels to contemporary council tax in Scotland.
Why does it exist again? The way I see it now, it costs about 10% of my pay check for a very expensive refuse collection service. I would actually make the argument to privatise garbage collection for higher efficiency.
Otherwise, walking around in Glasgow.. the roads are shite (worse than it most places in Eastern Europe), the streets are dirty and filled with litter (worse I've seen in Europe and even Morocco is better), I haven't seen any improvements to the city itself so to beg the question, what am I actually paying for? |
