TitleCrazy Rental Market

So. I've been living in Glasgow for about 8 years all in now. First as a student then renting in the West End and now Dennistoun. I really like Dennistoun but have recently been considering a move to the South side - Cathcart or Shawlands for a bit more space.

I have been blown away by the rental market though. When we took out our current lease it seemed we were paying around market average for the area, 575pcm for a nice big one bedroom - but now a not quite as nice flat in a not quite as nice area of Dennistoun is more!

I've had a good search of threads here and only a couple of years ago people were waxing lyrical about the sub 600 bargains you could get in the City Centre but as I scout Rightmove now, for a decent roomy 1 bed anywhere nice it's pushing 900pcm.

Have renters or movers noticed an increase in rental rates since Covid? I also note that by buying the same standard of property you can get a mortgage paying around 500 vs 900. Doesn't seem quite right.

I get that it's a renters market etc, but I don't want to commit to buying. Anyone spotting any bargains?
