TitleDoes anyone have any experience with bulging walls in tenements? As a prospective buyer I'm not sure how to think about the risk it carries.

I'm looking to buy a flat but I noticed that the wall in the stairway close is [bulging noticeably](https://i.imgur.com/BC1QOFH_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium). The bulge isn't mentioned in the home report.

Is this something that's worth investigating with a structural engineer before the purchase? How much would that cost? I think this kind of expense is usually arranged by the close's factors and paid by the owners of all the flats, so I'd feel a bit silly covering this out of my own pocket, especially before purchase. Especially that it's a small flat and I don't expect the survey to be cheap. How expensive is handling bulging walls if they are deemed to be in need of repair?
