TitleBuying a house - need help with areas
Authorateqq
Body
Looking for a bit of help with areas to focus house-hunting on. Budget is around £250k for (preferably) a 3 bedroom place, I can go slightly higher but only if the place is absolutely spot on.

Some requirements for the location itself:

* A house. I'd consider another flat but would like to avoid rolling the dice with neighbours again. I've lived in Dennistoun for 8 years and not sure I can be fucked driving round looking for a parking space anymore
* Walking distance to a train station/train line into town
* Decent selection of shops/supermarkets etc
* Not too bothered for schools as I don't have kids, nor do I want them

I've briefly looked at Bishopbriggs, Lenzie, Rutherglen and bits of Knightswood - but am I missing anywhere obvious? I'd like to be close-ish to town so haven't considered NL etc but probably unlikely to move out that way. Ruled out the expensive areas like Bearsden/Milngavie/Giffnock due to budget. Anywhere to avoid (aside from the usual places)? I'm not a first-time buyer so got the solicitor/bank stuff sorted out. Help appreciated!
