TitleDogs behaving badly

Took my small dog to a popular Glasgow park today for a wee walk and she was on the lead at all times.

I experienced three separate occasions of other dogs running over to my dog and really trying to go for her. (Perhaps they were trying to play, but given my dog is so small and these were much larger and much stronger, my dog was absolutely terrified.)

Their owners were no where to be seen (they had walked in front of their dogs or were busy on their phone). When they noticed their dog was aggressively going for my dog, they shouted for it to come back, but the dogs had to recall whatsoever.

The dogs didn’t walk up to her slowly but ran and lurched at her, causing her to screech and try to run to get away. Because she is so small I’m always worried that other dogs will see her as a toy and try to pick her up with their mouth.

On one occasion, when I had lifted my dog into my arms, the other dog got on his back legs and continued to try and get her! The dog was even taller then me and wouldn’t get off me until I screamed at it. Meanwhile the owner was running back to try and get it.

I’m all for having dogs off the lead, but they need to be monitored at ALL times and only be off the lead when they will definitely respond to their owners calling them back.

Uh just wanted a rant as there are so many dogs around now given the lockdown boom, but doesn’t look like owners are training them fully.

If this was a small child the consequences could be much more serious.
