| Body | Does anyone use Safe Lettings? The reason I ask is that it is urgent we get in contact with them and are unable to do so. I have a phone number but nobody is answering, and there was nobody at the office today either...
The Story:
We pay Safe Lettings every month for our rent and have had no issues since we started living here in 2018. Last night, around 7pm, two people appeared at our door (1 middle aged mad and an elderly woman). They claimed to be the Landlord and that Safe Lettings have not been sending our rent onto then and suggested that we pay them directly instead.
Obviously I was hesitant with this, but they handed me a bank card to copy down the account number & sort code and I also took note of the name on the card. The name matches the name of the landlord on our contract (we double checked obviously to be sure). As a result, I'm a bit more confident that what they say is true so I decided to contact Safe Lettings to get their side.
Cut to this morning - the contact number constantly goes to voicemail and I went to visit their office which was closed. I went to the hairdresser next door and asked if they ever see anyone in the Safe Lettings office and they said occasionally 1 man pops in (approx once a month) but they hadn't seen him in a while.
Naturally none of this sounds great, so if anyone has any contact information or knowledge that might help us please feel free to comment or DM as this isn't exactly an ideal situation!
