TitleArran Island confused me. Why?

Hello all. I took a trip to camp on Arran last week in the pushing rain. Turned out to be a pretty horrible experience as everything was soaked, mushy, damp, cold. All in all I loved the trip and the adventure but Jesus christ anyone saying "you can camp at the summit" has been on shrooms.

Anyways, heres my question and correct me if I got my line of thinking wrong. Where the fuck are all the Scots on Arran. I met quite a few people who lived there and every one of them was English. I though Aaran was part of scotland (again correct me if I'm wrong). Why was that. Why was everyone I met English.

Giqnts graves, man walking his dogs, English. Waterfalls in that same area, woman and man outside their house, English. Bus drivers, English. Shop owners, English. Everyone, English.

I've nothing against the English, everyone was super lovely and helpful but I was really expecting to hear Scots and locals that lived there being Scottish?

I eventually came to the conclusion that it was a pagan retreat as quite a few had beards and wore super colourful threads shirts and beads. There was a lot of animal entrails too (no joke). Was prepared to be sacrificed to Cthulu come nightfall, but alas, I left unscathed and confused.

Anyone explain?
