On occasions where I'm shopping in the city centre, I don't bother paying-The signs make it clear that there are parking restrictions but they don't actually give you the RingGo street number.
My favoured street has been this way for at least 18 months!
e.g.Mon-Sun 8am-6pm Permit holders or pay by phone 0141... quoting location \[ blank space where code should be \] or pay at machine & display ticketMax Stay 3 hours
Since they don't actually give the full info on how to pay by phone, if I ever get a ticket I'd just say I don't carry cash and was perfectly willing to pay if I they had given the information.
