| Body | Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone's had a similar issue with applying for the single person council tax discount and had any advice on what to do.
Until last month I was a postgrad student and exempt from paying council tax, but last week I received my charges notice since my exemption ran out. I've lived alone in my flat for three years now so I went to the council website to apply for the single person discount, but the only option for 'reason for discount' available on the form are moving to a different flat, having someone move out, or bereavement, none of which apply to me. Basically I need an option that says 'been a single resident at this flat all along, just have to pay tax now' but it's not there. I emailed the council and they haven't gotten back to me, and I just want to get this sorted before payment deadline.
I'm wondering if anyone's been in a similar situation and knows what to do/if there's any way to sort this out online. Any help would be appreciated!! |
