TitleWhat does rain mean?

I am considering moving to Glasgow and I read that it is one of the [rainiest cities](https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/glasgow-named-britains-rainiest-city-14510570) in the UK. Some [statistics](https://www.scottish-places.info/towns/townclimate338.html) tend to suggest it rains roughly 50% of days and some local people anecdotally say they would rather put the number at 2/3 of days.

I wonder what does it mean to be a rainy day? Just an hour in the early morning, a few drops here and there, or raining 6 hours a day? They make a big difference for someone having a few bigger dogs to walk everyday.
