TitleHot water question?

Sorry for sounding like a dumb arse, but it's my first time living in the UK.

I mostly lived in North America and developed Asia in a detached and condo where stuff like hot water is just always available for as long as I ever use and I never thought about how it works.

Last year when I spent some time living in Spain, I encountered hot water problem first time in life. Hot water availability was unstable and generally for less than 15 minutes per use. I guess there is some water tank somewhere heating and storing hot water, if that facility sucks, hot water sucks.

Given most flats in Europe are old (in a good way), I wonder how are facilities like hot water and electricity? In a typical 3-storey flat in the West End, is hot water availability a limited thing as I faced in Spain or a non-issue as long as for all regular uses?
