TitleI need help with (what appears to be) the fairly complicated bus system in Glasgow!

Hi all, I'm traveling from Canada and it just seems fairly complicated to try to figure out the bus system in Glasgow after having a relatively simple time with public transportation in London.

It seems like there is an option to buy an all-day ticket that costs £4.90, but it's not super clear to me how this works. Do you buy this ticket in advance, or can you just tap contactless on board? Also, if buying on board, do you have to specify to the driver that you want the all-day ticket or does the system cap at the lowest fare after charging for single fares initially?

Also, can you use the all-day ticket on all modes of transportation including subway or do you purchase subway tickets separately?

Basically... what is the simplest way to get around Glasgow for 3 days without losing money needlessly on public transportation? Any help would be much appreciated!
